Vince Zampella, who helped create the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in California aged 55.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The renowned industry figure lost his life when his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a highway in LA on this past Sunday, as reported by.

"This represents a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and all those touched by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
