Recent Particulars Come to Light Regarding the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Remains

New information has come to light concerning the tragic demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

A Discovery

A source indicates quoting a family associate, a practitioner arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the home. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.

Correcting the Record

The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Additionally pushed back against published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to reports of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
