Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
