Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
