Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for carrying out assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
