Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down after a solidarity show held in the autumn. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The notable list of musicians appearing on Lullaby features a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All participated in the September show, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The song features a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the project have clarified that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The context in the region was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property described as destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
